Targeted crime blitz across Ekurhuleni results in big successes
A coordinated law enforcement operation led to the recovery of illicit drugs, including crystal meth, nyaope, Mandrax, and large quantities of dagga, as well as the arrest of a hijacking suspect.
From May 20 to May 23, members of the Benoni Flying Squad arrested 11 suspects and recovered various illegal drugs in a series of separate incidents.
According to Rapid Response Services media liaison officer, Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, 10 suspects were arrested on drug-related charges.
In the Kempton Park CBD, two suspects were apprehended with 10 Ziplock bags of crystal methamphetamine, one bag of cat (cocaine), and eight packets of nyaope (heroin) recovered.

In Etwatwa, two suspects were arrested on Laris Road with two large brown bags of dagga valued at R15 000, while along the R555, another two were arrested with three bags of dagga valued at R10 000.
Three individuals were arrested in Daveyton, at Ngumbi Street and Chris Hani Squatter Camp, where Mandrax, nyaope, and crystal methamphetamine were seized.
One suspect was arrested on Ndabezitha Street, Tsakane, with Mandrax recovered.
Further policing on May 23 around 17:00 saw members patrolling Central Avenue, Kempton Park, when they were approached by a complainant in a hijacking and assault case.

At the corner of West Street, the complainant identified the suspect who was immediately arrested by members.
Investigations continue in all cases. The suspects are set to appear in the local magistrate’s court facing charges of dealing and possession of drugs, hijacking, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
