Stolen vehicles, firearms, and drugs seized in major Gauteng police sweep

A total of 37 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with six arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 71 suspects, recovering 37 motor vehicles and three firearms, between June 20 and June 26.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 25 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of gold bearing material, kidnapping, extortion, malicious damage to property, tampering with essential infrastructure, business burglary, robbery, business robbery, murder, public violence, rape and theft.

A total of 37 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with six arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Three unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying seven arrests.

In further policing, 33 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and Mandrax were among the drugs confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation are ongoing in these cases.
