EMPD arrests 13 undocumented foreign nationals in operations

City law enforcement apprehends 13 individuals without valid identification during targeted operations to curb undocumented immigration.

Officers from the EMPD’s Specialised Services Unit apprehended 13 undocumented foreign nationals during operations in the CoE between September 29 and October 5.

The arrests came as officers did duties in identified hotspots to curb the high number of undocumented foreign nationals within the city’s borders.

According to the EMPD, all 13 had no valid passports or satisfactory reasons for not having identification documents.

The men were arrested and taken to various police stations. Immigration services were notified to do further investigations into their identities.

They all face charges of contravening the Immigration Act and will soon appear in their respective magistrates’ courts.
