Flying Squad crackdown nets drugs, stolen car and drunk driver

Members arrested a 31-year-old suspect for possession of a grey Jaguar F-Pace at an estate on Atlas Road, Atlasville reported stolen on a Silverton case.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested three suspects, recovered drugs and one motor vehicle between October 31 and November 1.

On October 31, at around 10:00, members followed up on information about alleged drug sales at a residence in Isithama Section, Tembisa.

A 43-year-old suspect was arrested and 16 Mandrax pills were recovered at the premises.

Later that same evening, at around 20:45, members arrested a 31-year-old suspect for possession of a grey Jaguar F-Pace at an estate on Atlas Road, Atlasville, which had been reported stolen in a Silverton case.

In further policing on Saturday at around 20:00, during Operation Shanela in Thembisa, a 34-year-old suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on RTJ Namane Drive.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will appear in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession and dealing in drugs and driving under the influence of liquor.
