Joint police operation nets major drug haul in Esther Park
Some of the substances recovered in the operation included 1.9 kilograms of crystal meth and 2.3 kilograms of cat.
A joint multidisciplinary operation involving Sebenza SAPS, Sebenza and Norkem Park patrollers, CPF members, and private security companies led to a significant drug bust in Esther Park on Friday, December 5.
According to Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso, the operation began at about 19:30 and focused on smash-and-grab incidents, armed robberies, and trio crimes along Green Avenue.
“During a stop-and-search operation, officers received information about a suspected drug dealer driving a grey Hyundai.
“The vehicle was soon spotted, and the 35-year-old driver, a Nigerian national, was approached. A search was conducted with his consent, leading to the discovery of drugs in his possession as well as cash amounting to R10 000,” said Tsotsotso.
