Police operation across Gauteng nets 147 arrests, 52 vehicles and firearms

In further policing, 53 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Police Emergency Services, comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 147 suspects, recovered 52 motor vehicles and nine firearms between 16 and January 22.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 57 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery, contravention of a protection order, kidnapping, attempted murder of police officer, possession of abalone, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal manufacture of liquor, reckless and negligent driving, malicious damage to property, theft, burglary, child neglect, obstructing a member in the exercise of his powers and illegal immigrant.

A total of 52 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered, with seventeen arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Nine firearms were recovered, along with twenty arrests.

In further policing, 53 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will appear in local magistrates’ courts across Gauteng.
