EMPD takes action against unpermitted traders in Kempton Park

Items confiscated during the operation included cooked food, pots, gas stoves, municipal dustbins, tables and clothing.

The EMPD conducted a multi-disciplinary by-law enforcement operation in the Kempton Park CBD on June 16, resulting in the confiscation of goods from illegally operating traders.

The operation was carried out along Pretoria Road, Central Avenue and Monument Road by the EMPD’s By-Law Enforcement and Compliance Unit.

According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa, the action followed numerous warnings issued to traders operating without the required documentation.

“This was after numerous warnings to illegal hawkers by the By-Law Enforcement and Compliance Unit to stop trading without the necessary documents,” said Thepa.

Items confiscated during the operation included fruits and vegetables, cooked food, pots, gas stoves, municipal dustbins, tables and clothing. The goods were seized from traders who were operating without valid trading permits.

All confiscated items were transported to the Kempton Park EMPD Pound for safekeeping.
