Routine patrol uncovers immigration violations in Kempton Park

The suspects are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon on charges relating to their immigration status.

Officers from the EMPD O.R. Tambo International Airport precinct arrested two individuals for contravening the Immigration Act during a routine patrol in Kempton Park on Wednesday, June 17.

At approximately 15:40, EMPD officers were patrolling along Central and Langenhoven Streets when they stopped a suspicious silver-grey Toyota Yaris carrying four occupants.

“On approaching the vehicle, officers established that the occupants included one South African citizen and three foreign nationals. The officers then requested identification and immigration documentation from all passengers,” said EMPD spokesperson, Chief Superintendent, Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

“Only one of the foreign nationals was able to produce valid documentation authorising his stay in the Republic of South Africa,” she said.
