Help local artist undergo a life-saving surgery

"The only way for me to recover is to find a donor for one of those organs or to have the funds to receive the proper care to live longer."

The inspirational story of local artist Prudiihd Mathebula has touched the hearts of the community, as news spreads about his urgent need for a kidney transplant.

The campaign to save Mathebula has gone viral across social media platforms, with artists, friends, family and supporters sharing his story and encouraging individuals to donate.

“I’ve had this illness for five years, and I’ve always been reluctant to discuss it since it’s so private and difficult to disclose, but as a result of my financial difficulties, I reached a point where I felt liberated to tell everyone about it in the hopes of receiving help for improving my health.

“I had hypertension, or high blood pressure, which I was unaware of, and it damaged my heart. Now that I have heart failure.

It has also damaged my liver and kidneys, so all I can advise is to watch what you eat, drink more water, and exercise more frequently.

“The only way for me to recover is to find a donor for one of those organs or to have the funds to receive the proper care to live longer.

“I am aware that while donating a heart can be challenging, doing so for a liver is not as problematic because it can regenerate. Since I’ve been on dialysis for five years and have had numerous difficulties as a result, all I really need is R5 or R10 from each person in order to receive the right care or a donor for a kidney transplant.

“In addition, I want to urge you to take care of yourself. We all know that life is short, but that doesn’t mean you should waste it,” said Mathebula.

A crowdfunding initiative has been established to provide a convenient and accessible way for people to contribute, no matter how big or small.
