Successful operation lands suspects behind bars

A successful operation by Rapid Response landed a total of 96 suspects in prison. Thirty seven vehicles and nine firearms where recovered.

Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 96 suspects, and recovered 37 motor vehicles and nine firearms between November 3 and November 9.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

The operation led to 37 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, malicious property damage, attempted theft of motor vehicle, intimidation, theft, robbery, possession of suspected stolen goods and driving under the influence.

Thirty-seven hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with eight arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Nine unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying 10 arrests.

In further policing, 41 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
