Suspects linked to Moofontein Cemetery robberies get 230 years in prison

The suspects received a combined 230 years of imprisonment for the crimes committed in 2019.

Thanks to the diligent work of the Norkem Park SAPS and the Trio Task Team, nine suspects linked to a string of house robberies in the Mooifontein Cemetery area were convicted.

“After an extensive investigation led by Lieutenant Colonel Jones, the suspects were found guilty on seven counts of house robbery and possession of stolen property,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira-Dookie.

She added that one accused faced an additional conviction for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The suspects received a combined 230 years of imprisonment for the crimes committed in 2019.

Station Commander Colonel MN Maunatlala praised the investigative team, the Local Criminal Record Centre and the first responders for securing convictions.

“This successful conviction highlights the relentless efforts of our officers and investigative teams to ensure justice for the victims.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to combat crime and protect our community,” said Maunatlala.
