Police units nab suspects and recover motor vehicles
Rapid Response Services arrested 80 suspects, recovered 19 motor vehicles and one firearm between March 28 and April 3.
Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 80 suspects, recovered 19 motor vehicles and one firearm between March 28 and April 3.
According to media liaison officer, Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 34 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, attempted murder, fraud, crimen injuria, theft, malicious damage to property, possession of unlicensed ammunition, illegal immigrant, housebreaking and theft.

A total of 19 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with two arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
One unlicensed firearm was recovered, accompanying one arrest.
In further policing, 43 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation in these cases is still ongoing. The suspects will appear in local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
