Learner’s murder: Gauteng students appear in court
The trio, believed to be university students, appeared in court on May 13 following their arrest shortly after the incident. Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack.
Three suspects aged between 19 and 24 appeared at Lenasia Magistrate’s Court on May 13, facing charges of murder of an 18-year-old at the Motsoaledi soccer ground in Kliptown.
This came after the police received information about a murder incident at Power Park in Kliptown on May 6.

Upon arrival at the scene, it was reported to the police that the deceased was a learner at a local school and several suspects allegedly attacked him.
The police acted on the information they received at the scene, and it led to the arrest of three suspects.
Preliminary investigations revealed the suspects are allegedly students from one of the local universities.
The motive behind the incident is not known. Police investigations are continuing.
