Police clamp down on drug trade in multi-day operation
Members found a 41-year-old man on Isikalu Street, Birch Acres, with drugs valued at about R6 000.
Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members arrested five people and recovered drugs between May 12 and 17.
Officers arrested four people in separate incidents for dealing in drugs between May 12 and 15.
According to spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, officers found a 41-year-old man on Isikalu Street, Birch Acres, with four black bags and nine ziplock bags of dagga valued at about R6 000.

They found another 41-year-old man on Lark Street, Rabie Ridge, with 40 Mandrax pills, and a 34-year-old in the same area on Makau Street with 37 ziplock bags of crystal meth.
On the corner of Snake and Rangeview roads, Benoni, officers found a 42-year-old in a white Toyota Hilux with eight large bags of dagga valued at about R120 000.
In further policing on May 17, members patrolling the Benoni CBD saw an Opel skip a red traffic light at about 18:00. They tested the vehicle and learnt it was wanted for an enquiry in a Benoni case.

They pulled over the vehicle at Lakefield Square and arrested a 44-year-old after members contacted the detective in the case, who confirmed the man was wanted in a case for malicious damage to property.
Investigations into all cases continue.
Those arrested will appear in the local magistrate’s court on charges of dealing in drugs and malicious damage to property.
