Kempton Park SPCA urges action against animal cruelty
With confidential reporting, prompt investigations, and ongoing welfare initiatives, the SPCA is committed to ensuring every animal gets the care and justice it deserves.
The Kempton Park SPCA is calling on residents to report any cases of animal cruelty or neglect in the community.
Suspected incidents can be reported by contacting the local SPCA.
When making a report, it is important to provide the exact location, a detailed description of the animals involved, the nature of the suspected cruelty, and, if safely and legally obtained, supporting photos or videos. Contact details should also be included.
All information provided is treated as confidential.
Residents may reach the SPCA office on 011 975 6537. For emergencies, call 079 509 7859.

Richman Sibande, manager of the Kempton Park SPCA, said that once a report is received, a trained inspector or field officer will assess the information and conduct an investigation.
This may involve visiting the site, interviewing witnesses, and checking the condition of the animal.
“After the inspection, the SPCA provides feedback to the complainant.
“Depending on the outcome, we may issue warnings, serve compliance notices, seize animals when necessary, and lay charges under the Animals Protection Act to pursue legal action,” Sibande explained.
He added that the SPCA often works with law enforcement, veterinarians, and social services to thoroughly investigate and address reported cases.
Beyond enforcement, the SPCA is also committed to broader advocacy.
“We’re promoting the mandatory reporting of animal abusers, improved animal welfare standards, and encouraging the public to sign petitions and engage with lawmakers,” said Sibande.
