Supa Quick Spartan and Dunlop donate 495kg pet food to Kempton Park SPCA

The initiative was sparked during an April conversation between Karel Olivier, managing director of Supa Quick Spartan, and Jeremiah Govender of Dunlop South Africa.

Supa Quick Spartan and Dunlop South Africa joined forces this week to make a meaningful donation to the Kempton Park SPCA.

The initiative was sparked during an April conversation between Karel Olivier, managing director of Supa Quick Spartan, and Jeremiah Govender of Dunlop South Africa.

The two business leaders were discussing how to celebrate the store’s second anniversary while giving back to the community that has supported them.

“We decided on the SPCA sponsorship because of our mutual love for animals,” said Govender.

“My decision to support an animal welfare organisation was also deeply personal, driven by the loss of my best friend, Kratos — my purebred English Bull Terrier — who passed away in April.”

The donation included an impressive 495kg of pet food for both cats and dogs, along with 117 stormy blankets—vital resources for the welfare and comfort of the animals in the SPCA’s care.

For the Olivier family, giving back is a natural extension of their values. Karel and his wife Jenna, who manages the store’s administrative functions, remain deeply grateful for the community’s ongoing support in their journey to build a successful business. Their vision extends beyond commerce, with a strong focus on job creation and social upliftment.

“Domesticated animals like cats and dogs are fully reliant on human care to survive,” said Govender.

“Supporting the SPCA is one way we can honour that responsibility.”

The donation comes at a critical time for the Kempton Park SPCA, which recently lost its main communication platform after its Facebook page was hacked.

The setback has made it more difficult for the organisation to appeal for support and promote pet adoptions.

This campaign marks the first collaboration between Supa Quick Spartan, Dunlop South Africa, and the SPCA—but all parties agree it won’t be the last.

“We’ll continue doing what we can for the community around us,” added Govender.

“A special thanks also goes to Winnie Mahlakwana from Dunlop South Africa, who generously doubled the budgeted amount, making this donation even more impactful.”

Community members who wish to support the SPCA can drop off food and blankets at the Supa Quick Spartan store, and the team will deliver them to the SPCA.

Alternatively, donations can be taken directly to the Kempton Park SPCA. Locals are also encouraged to support the on-site pre-loved goods store, where proceeds help fund the care and upkeep of animals in need.

As Govender puts it: “Humanity has been trusted to care for this planet and its creatures. These animals never judge and appreciate even the smallest of gifts. It’s the little things that go the longest way.”
