Two killed, three injured in early morning crash

Motorists should avoid Andrew Mapheto Drive as traffic remains congested and use New Road towards Esselen Park as an alternative route.

Two people were killed and three others seriously injured when a vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier along Andrew Mapheto Drive near Thembisa Plaza in the early hours of Thursday morning, July 31.

The crash occurred at around 03:30.

Emergency services confirmed that two occupants sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene.

Three other occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, as traffic remains heavily congested.

Anyone travelling in that direction is advised to use New Road towards Esselen Park as an alternative route.
