The home offered the elderly with a breath of fresh air and a good time while raising funds for the home.
Kempton Park and neighbouring communities gathered at the Council of the Aged, Allen Park, on October 25 for a Texas Tea Garden-themed market, a lively event aimed at raising funds for the home and its residents.
The market offered something for everyone, from live entertainment, line dancing, pony rides, and a petting zoo to arts and crafts stalls, food vendors, jumping castles, and water slides.

Tarryn Shaw, the home’s marketing and fundraiser coordinator, explained the purpose of the event.
“The festival was designed to raise much-needed funds for the elderly in our care. The money assists with maintaining the facilities, feeding residents, and ensuring they feel loved and cared for.
“The residents really enjoyed the day, and the support from the community means the world to them.”
Despite having only three months to plan, Shaw managed to organise a highly successful event, attracting sponsors such as Woodbridge Mugg n Bean, Impala Primary, Jeugland High, Fruit and Veg Harvest, Arrie Nel Pharmacies, Absolutely Water, Spar Birchgate Tops, Spar Glen Marais, and Checkers Cavendish.
