Mayor and delegates visits Enxiweni Primary School following the fatal shooting of the principal and administrator.
The Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, led a delegation comprising the MMC for Community Safety, Sizakele Masuku, and acting chief of police, Brigadier Ockert Bezuidenhout, to Enxiweni Primary School following the tragic shooting that claimed the lives of the school principal and an administrative staff member.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Thembisa community and the education sector, and the city joined all stakeholders in condemning this senseless act of violence.
During the visit, the mayor and his team met with the school leadership and offered condolences to the families, colleagues, and learners.

They also assessed immediate safety concerns and outlined the city’s coordinated response in partnership with law enforcement and education authorities.
The mayor, together with faith-based organisations (FBOs), school staff, and security personnel, gathered in the school’s computer lab to express condolences and stand with the families of those affected.

“We are devastated by the growing attacks on school leaders in the area. As a former product of this school, this pain is deeply personal. Our visit was about mourning, restoring hope, and reassuring the community that we are here and will work tirelessly,” Xhakaza said.
He added that violence in schools has been escalating, referencing past incidents, including a shooting at Welamlabo Primary School months ago and another at Phomolong two years ago.

“This shows the urgent need to invest in law enforcement. We are determined, with the Chief of Police on our side, that perpetrators will be arrested swiftly.
