VF Plus fixes potholes on Elgin Road after service delays in Kempton Park
Freedom Front Plus councillors and supporters repaired potholes along Elgin Road, saying the initiative shows residents will step up when the City of Ekurhuleni fails to deliver services.
Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) councillors and supporters rolled up their sleeves on November 19 to repair potholes along Elgin Road in Kempton Park, saying the initiative aimed to help rebuild and restore the suburb.
According to the party, the project not only advocates for residents’ interests in council chambers but also takes practical action to improve safety and service delivery when needed.
VF Plus councillor Jean Kriek said Kempton Park residents should not have to bear the consequences of the metro’s service failures.

“What was once a dangerous stretch of road, used by thousands of commuters every day, is now pothole-free. The party repeatedly requested the Ekurhuleni Metro to repair the potholes, but nothing came of it,” Kriek said.
The Kempton Park branch was joined by councillors from Benoni and other areas.
Kriek added that the initiative aimed to send a clear message to the City of Ekurhuleni that communities are willing and able to work together to improve their neighbourhoods when municipal systems fall short.
The party also thanked Checkers at the Elgin Shopping Centre for donating tar, as well as Vleis Fabriek for its contribution.
