Hoërskool Birchleigh 2026 matric learners express their feeling about finally being in matric and plans as part of different departments representatives in the RCL.

Reality kicked in for Hoërskool Birchleigh matric learners when they went through the gates on January 14 to mark their final run.

Karabo Maluleke, one of the heads of academics at Hoërskool Birchleigh. “I feel very excited and a tad anxious because, although this is the last inning of my secondary school journey, there’s a lot of pressure that comes with it. Being a competitive learner and DUX scholar of Hoërskool Birchleigh for the 2025 academic year, I know that everyone is vying to be the absolute best. I’m ecstatic about the year to come, and I can only hope to continue performing at the highest possible level

Different emotions were expressed among the learners and they are looking forward to also being part of the school’s Representative Council of Learners.

“What I’m feeling when entering Grade 12 is surreal. I don’t believe that it’s true. I remember when I was in Grade Eight, it was like it was yesterday, but now all of a sudden, I’m here with this important portfolio in my final year of high school. It’s safe to say I feel sad because it’s the end of an era, but at the same time, I feel very happy it’s over; it’s given me enough stress and tears to fill the years ahead of me.
