Operation AntiFreeze reflects on a successful 2025, plans for 2026 expansion

Thom urged the Kempton Park community to get involved by donating any non-perishable food items maize, rice, baked beans, blankets, and sanitary items, we are currently feeding close to 900 students a month.

Operation AntiFreeze has reflected positively on 2025, describing it as a successful year despite ongoing challenges.

“We managed to get all our school children fed and warm with blankets. Our private and corporate donors really did their best to assist us, and for that we are forever grateful,” said Patrick Thom, project co-ordinator and fundraiser.

Despite these successes, Thom noted that the organisation continues to face recurring challenges, particularly when it comes to raising funds.

“Providing for the children is always hard work, but we achieved what we set out to do last year,” he said.

Looking ahead, the organisation hopes to expand its feeding scheme by increasing distributions from once a month to at least twice a month, provided sufficient funding can be secured.

“Our plan for this year is to increase the frequency of our food parcel deliveries. We have also started a Care Package Drive for our schools, which includes sanitary items, soap, deodorant and other basic essentials that contribute to a healthy young person,” said Thom.

Thom urged the Kempton Park community to get involved by donating non-perishable food items such as maize, rice and baked beans, as well as blankets and sanitary products.

“We are currently feeding close to 900 students a month. As an NPO, we rely on the generosity of the community to help us reach more children,” he added.

Donations can be dropped off at the organisation’s office at 41 Trig Road, Pomona. Alternatively, Operation AntiFreeze can arrange to collect items from donors.
