Security teams mobilised as nationwide protest action begins

Kempton Park CPF confirmed that an operational parade and briefing were conducted early this morning ahead of the day's planned operations.

As the planned nationwide protest action gets underway today (June 30), authorities are urging residents to remain calm, stay informed through official channels and avoid sharing unverified information on social media and messaging platforms.

The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has advised travellers that traffic congestion and delays may occur on routes leading to airports across the country due to the planned demonstrations.

Passengers travelling today are encouraged to monitor the ACSA mobile app for the latest flight information, allow extra time for their journey and airport procedures, and arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures.

ACSA has encouraged travellers to plan ahead, travel safely and remain patient should delays occur.

Meanwhile, the Kempton Park Community Policing Forum (CPF) confirmed that an operational parade and briefing were successfully conducted early this morning ahead of the day’s planned operations.

The briefing was attended by members of SAPS, the Kempton Park CPF, private security companies, AfriForum and other key stakeholders, who will be working together throughout the day to help maintain safety and security across the community.

According to the CPF, joint operations are already underway, with all participating role players committed to maintaining a visible presence and responding to any incidents that may arise.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity to SAPS or their security service provider, and rely only on official communication channels for updates.

The CPF also reminded community members to avoid circulating rumours or unverified information on social media and WhatsApp groups. Sharing inaccurate information can create unnecessary panic, divert emergency resources and make it more difficult for authorities to respond effectively to genuine incidents.

Residents are encouraged to verify information before forwarding it and to follow updates issued by official sources, including SAPS, the CPF, emergency services and other recognised authorities.

The CPF thanked all participating members and stakeholders for their continued dedication, professionalism and cooperation, adding that further official updates will be shared as they become available throughout the day.
