Struwwelpeter: What is the message the ANC is giving to our country?
Let it invest its full weight and resources into the fight against the corruption

SOME interesting comments by the SA Chief Rabbi (abbreviated):
The honour the ANC is according Jackie Selebi in death is a moral disgrace. Selebi betrayed the trust of the South African people. He was appointed as the National Commissioner of Police to protect millions of decent, law abiding citizens from the horrors of crime. Instead of fulfilling his mandate he joined the criminals and was sentenced to 15 years in jail.
The ANC in its official statement says about Selebi that his legacy “will inspire generations to come to serve this nation with loyalty and steadfastness”. What can they mean?
In appalling brazenness the statement continues: “The ANC will continue to pursue the noble ideals and the society that Comrade Jackie gave his entire life to achieve.” What’s the message to our country? That the ANC, as an organisation, and the South African government by extension, condones corruption and crime?
For the ruling party of South Africa to publicly embrace and endorse a police commissioner who was arrested, prosecuted and jailed for working with organised crime, displays a complete lack of integrity and morality, and maybe even worse, a lack of care and compassion for the plight of millions of ordinary South Africans who have suffered at the hands of criminals.
Those who honour Selebi create the impression that they don’t care about the people of South Africa.
This displays a complete lack of moral leadership. It is a slap in the face of every decent South African and constitutes a public endorsement of corruption.
Jackie Selebi’s funeral was paid for by the ANC. Now, let the ruling party recognise its error. Let it invest its full weight and resources into the fight against the corruption.
Struwwelpeter thinks he has a point.

Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way you can understand them. This quote came from the Czech Republic. Some political commentator over there has it figured out.
“The danger to South Africa is not Jacob Zuma but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of a Zuma presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr Zuma, who is a mere symptom of what ails South Africa.
Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Jacob Zuma, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their President.

Robert Mugabe stumbled on some stairs the other day. Such is the hubris of this man that he has already suspended 27 bodyguards. Who does he think he is: Jacob Zuma?

To celebrate 50 years of marriage, a couple booked a golfing weekend at an exclusive estate. On the third tee the husband said: “Darling, I have to confess something. About 20 years ago I had a brief affair. It meant nothing to me and I hope you can forgive me.”
His wife was very hurt but said: “Those days are long gone. What we have now is far more valuable. I forgive you.”
They embraced and kissed.
On the 17th tee the wife said to the husband: ”Darling, since we are being honest with each other, I have something to tell you too. 52 years ago I had a sex change operation. I was a man before we met.”
The husband had a fit. He gave a howl of outrage, broke his club over his knees and ranted: “How could you? I trusted you! You’ve been playing off the ladies tee all these years!”
