Arwyp had monopoly too long

I and my entire family have lived in Kempton Park for more than 30 years. It is with contempt that I read of the objection to reopening Kempton Park Hospital as a Folateng Hospital by Arwyp Medical Centre.

The audacity of this selfishness astounds me.

We have had the misfortune of seeing the hospitalisation care, ward care and ICU care at Arwyp drastically decline with a no-care attitude from nursing staff, matrons and even the hospital management.

My aged parents are on Transmed and due to the fees charged, Arwyp is not on the list to treat them. We must now use Folateng in Johannesburg and Arwyp objects to a similar facility being opened in our city.

Arwyp has had the monopoly of hospital beds and theatres in Kempton Park for many years and has not given adequate attention to basic things, especially poor nursing and patient care.

It is simply an objection by a money hungry superstructure at Arwyp. I can assure you their salaries paid to nursing and theatre staff are poor and they will not be competitive against a reopened Kempton Park Hospital in that field.

Two of our friends nurse at Arwyp and can’t wait to move.

Competition is healthy and simply put, it’s your turn to pull up your socks Arwyp and to stop whining while making millions at the cost of patient care.

You have had awful press coverage for years concerning this and have chosen to “fiddle while Rome burns!”

We will, however, not change our GP, specialists and trusted medical practitioners for anything and let’s hope from the use of another facility in our city.

I am certain they will also welcome an alternative facility to admit their patients to.
