On September 15 at 11.20pm, we awoke with a start as the transformer in the substation next to our house had a series of mini but extremely loud explosions.
Smoke was coming out of the substation and the possibility of a fire was very real. We phoned the life threatening emergencies number and the fire brigade and Ekurhuleni Electricity Services arrived 40 minutes later.
EES assessed and isolated the problem, promising that our electricity supply would be up and running in a few days. We awoke four hours later to find they had already started to remove the damaged transformer.
The new parts arrived at around 5am and our electricity was back on at about 6.20am. Ekurhuleni Electricity Services are our unsung heroes, a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.
Thank you for your excellent service and willingness to assist during our time of need. It is a great relief to know there are still people out there who care to make a difference.
