Whenever those on strike in this country do not get an immediate capitulation to their demands, they turn to violence.
The latest case in point is that of the petrol pump attendants highlighted by Kempton Express of September 19.
These idiots are obviously too stupid to recognise the vulnerability of their position. Their jobs are not a necessity.
Most of the world dispensed with such people years ago and it is time that South Africa did the same. By getting rid of their attendants and turning their stations into self-service, petrol station owners can free themselves of the annual blackmail by their staff and, by reducing the price of fuel with the savings in employment costs, help out the struggling motorist.
