A speedster’s heaven

"One of these days someone is going to jump a stop street and hit somebody ..."

PAUL DAVIES writes:

I live down 4th, Bredell. It has two stop streets and the number of times vehicles speed up this semi-agricultural road and don’t even bother to stop at the stop streets is getting beyond a joke.

People walk up this road, people on bicycles, school kids waiting for the bus, occasional animals as well.

One of these days someone is going to jump a stop street and hit somebody or swerve and collide with someone’s garden wall or fence.

These speed freaks include cars, quads, motorcycles, bakkies. If the metro police want to earn a quick Christmas bonus, they need only come and watch what goes on here throughout the day.

Let them come in an unmarked vehicle and earn their Christmas bonus in one day.

Personally, I think speed humps should be placed down this road with small traffic circles at the two stop streets. Stop vehicles taking short cuts from the Marister side from coming through here.

Maybe make this road a security area with a boom and access for residents only.

Seriously, this needs to be looked at. Enough is enough.
