December and especially new year was hell, to say the least.
While many would probably retire at dusk for family time around a fire, with a few steaks on the fire, having some music in the background in a civilised manner (considering his neighbours), I in my house, when I did not take flight to visit someone in order to get away from the noise, had my doors and windows closed to keep as much of the noise as possible out. So much said.
Now for a more positive spin: DA councillor Jaco Terblanche has taken some heat in the media before. However, I want to compliment him for his readiness to assist over December.
Apart from the noise, there was a sewage problem and my back yard was literally a foot deep in waste water. He walked the extra mile to help.
He was willing to help at night when the gatherings and congregations in Noord Rand Road made it sound like I am camping on the tarmac of OR Tambo’s international departures.
He never complained, he never ignored. I want to commend him for this.
Ok, there was the metro officer that came to my house on new year’s eve as well, the foreman involved in cleaning the sewage-mess and his teams.
The police in general I still experienced as generally extremely unhelpful, unfortunately.
There were exceptions though.
So in short, thank you Clr Terblanche, thanks to Kempton Express who took my issue up with the metro (not completely resolved yet) and thank you to everyone who actively attempted to assist.
I am certain I am not the only grateful person in and around extension 2. You can at times hear the noise as far as Swart Street.
I trust the metro will maintain their control in the area and keep the promises made in response to my first letter.
