I would like to respond to the letter, “God will take away disability“.
While I agree with what you said about the name and shame piece and how all should rather make sure that the person is indeed disabled, I am very disheartened by how religion (although not against people having their own religion) was immediately brought into this.
Each person is welcome nowadays to serve whatever god, deity, idol, spirit, etc, they want to. That doesn’t mean, however, that you can shove that in someone’s face ever chance you get.
I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness and for years I was lead to believe that whenever you got a chance you should talk about your religion to people not of the same faith. However, I soon learnt after leaving the house that not everyone enjoys listening or reading about your opinions.
Needless to say, it has been about seven years since I last set foot near a Jehovah’s Witness place of worship. But I do not go around preaching to everyone about everything.
Myself and my fiancé both believe that whatever your religion is, is perfect by us so long as you do not try to push us into listening to you talking about it and/or trying to join your religion.
Like I said, I am not against people having a religious belief but that doesn’t mean that every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to hear your opinion.
I mean this as no offense to anyone, just please understand that we are not all religious.
