I tried getting a disability parking disc but agree with Anonymous that the processes to get a disc from the local council are horrendous and I gave up. I was told that these processes are necessary because of fraud.
However, as disabled people give up in despair to comply, scrap the costly processes.
My daughter, however, obtained a disc for me without much fuss and bother from another metropolitan council.
I see no reason for Kempton Express to stop the campaign against able bodied people who park in the cripple bays. If I was Stefan Maritz all the fuss will embarrass me so much that I would not show my face in public.
If you are disabled you tend to be sensitive and as independent as your situation allows. My attitude is that as long as my conscious is clear I don’t care what people think or say.
As it is virtually impossible for a disabled person to follow the council’s requirements to obtain a disc, I suggest we all indicate in some way or other that we are disabled on the rear windows of our vehicles.
If your vehicle is not marked, you should not complain if you are named and shamed but, if fraudsters are caught, they should be chained for a weekend to the pole nearest to the parking bay they used.
