I am 64 years old and grew up during the Apartheid years. I did not agree with any division of people and did not vote for any party that believed in or treated people differently based on their colour or beliefs.
I treated all people that I had contact with as an equal.
And so my life reflected my beliefs and when 1994 came, I was glad for all. Now there would be no more of this apartheid stupidity and we could all live in this country as equals.
The Government under Nelson Mandela promised so much for all and I waited in anticipation for these promises to materialise.
Well. I have learned that words from the ANC and the people who have voted them into power are just words. The blacks in this country have a better life than they did before 1994 but they do not have even one hundredth of what they deserve and have been promised.
The only ones who have more than what they need are the ANC government. Gravy train, gravy plane, gravy bank accounts and no care or concern for those they have promised so much to.
They show their incompetence and lack of care daily and have no conscience when they fail those who voted for them. I cannot accept the governmental crime that is so clear for all to see and the country chaos in almost all areas of government.
I could go on and write a long letter about the crime and state of this country but the fact is that we all know this. Each day I hear or read about the ANC and another wrong that they have committed. I am no longer shocked or surprised as I now fully understand that they fail the country and it’s people without a conscience and they will not change – why should they – they are happy.
They understand that the people are afraid of them, when it should be the reverse.
I have 18 family and friends who have left SA in the past two years and more are to follow soon. They have experienced the crime and the reverse apartheid that is now so rife. The attitude of the ANC is rubbing off on its followers and their attitude and actions reflect this.
I no longer feel at ease or safe as I did pre-1995. If I could afford to leave SA, I would not think twice about it; I would leave tomorrow.
So here I sit walled up in my house. Am I happy with what I have done and where I am now in this country? And when the time comes to vote I will not vote for the ANC.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, problem is we are standing at the start of the tunnel and as we begin to walk to the light we realise that this ANC built tunnel is over 74 million kilometres long.
