We were very disappointed to see Hooters SA, a neighbourhood restaurant, linked to a story about two missing girls in the above-mentioned letter.
There are no grounds for this association. Hooters SA do not promote the ill-treatment of women in any way.
As a restaurant chain we pride ourselves in offering a fun, light-hearted experience to our guests. The focus is on great food, a welcoming atmosphere and good clean fun.
The Hooters girls are our brand ambassadors and their uniforms are a fun take on classic cheerleading outfits because of the strong link between the Hooters experience and sport enjoyment.
Hooters girls’ uniforms are certainly no more revealing than those worn by the Blue Bulls Babes or the Sharkettes.
The Hooters girls pride themselves in their work and we pride ourselves in providing them with a happy and safe working environment. The girls are all part of the Hooters family in every store and they know that there are strict rules enforced to ensure that they never feel uncomfortable at work.
Many of our staff members also work with us part-time and are putting themselves through university with the full support of Hooters management.
Creating a link between Hooters and the abuse of women could not be further from the truth.
