Prayer for a dysfunctional local Christian upliftment shelter.
I pray that the sham cloak of Christianity be torn from top to bottom, as was the temple curtain when the Romans crucified Jesus, at the behest of the Jewish temple leaders.
I pray that the men who head up this upliftment shelter come to realise the folly of employing sado-tyrannical tactics and turn to a realisation that the job requires certain qualities, including empathy for the situation of the men; true discernment of character; equity or fairness in the treatment of the men.
I pray that reaction from the leaders to situations ceases to be cursing and foul language, and becomes reasoning, encouragement and fair judgement.
I pray that bullying of the men ceases, giving place to fair punishment, when required. I pray that all physical violence comes to an end.
I pray that this centre may become a model, a showpiece of what homeless shelters worldwide should be.
I pray that the love of Jesus, which He asked that we duplicate, becomes shiningly apparent in this institution.
