We pay for boxes but no mail

Come January, I will not be renewing my post box rental

CAROL SWEMMER of Birchleigh writes:

Yet again, we wait to see when or if mail will be arriving in our post boxes.

The post box rental was increased (as it usually does at the beginning of each year) to R339 and no doubt we will see another increase come January.

For at least three months of this year we have had to contend with lack of mail delivery due to strike action and we are advised that we will probably have to wait for our mail for weeks to come. That’s if it does finally find its way into our post boxes.

To add insult to injury, the post boxes at Glen Acres were relocated a few months ago. No warning was given and for a few weeks no mail was delivered to Aston Manor box numbers.

The Aston Manor Post Office was unable to assist with any enquiries, claiming “they had nothing to do with it”.

Come January, I will not be renewing my post box rental.
