Fast help after substation explosion

Ekurhuleni Energy worked every day this week to repair the drive-way, pavement and buildings

The Melnor substation exploded on November 15 at 1.20pm and I immediately drove to the Ekurhuleni energy (electricity) offices, only to find guards who could not help.

I then went home and lodged a report with the call centre that this was serious and still dangerous.

The photo shows the flames at 4.57pm inside my building complex. The fire was put out at 6.31pm.

My thanks to the speed and dedication from Ekurhuleni Energy who placed another mini-sub on the pavement and had the power restored by 8:30pm on Sunday night.

Ekurhuleni Energy worked every day this week to repair the drive-way, pavement and buildings.

Also thank you to Amanda van Dyk and the Ekurhuleni Water Department team when a pipe burst on my pavement on Highveld Road a few months back. I drove to the offices, spoke to Amanda close to 4pm and by the time I got home, a team was already digging the pipe open and started fixing it.
