I would like to know when our exalted police force is going to do something about the drug dealers in our community.
The Nigerians are selling in the vicinity of Kempton Park Police Station and nothing is being done to stop them.
These people should be deported and I feel that it is a poor reflection on our police force that they do nothing to attend to this matter.
Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, replies:
We have taken note about the concern by one of your readers regarding alleged drug dealers in Kempton Park.
Firstly, we wish to mention that it is not correct that the police are not doing anything about drug related matters. I wish to state categorically that on a daily basis suspects are arrested for drug related matters. Several cases are currently being heared in our magistrate’s court and a number of suspects have been convicted and paid fines.
We believe the drug problem can only be addressed by working together as the police only cannot deal with it. We also want to commend community members who constantly supply us with information regarding crime and drug related matters.
Just on Wednesday, December 3, the police were given information about an alleged drug dealer on Pretoria Road where police found a large quantity of dagga was.

We request that drug issues should not be racialised as we will lose focus on dealing with its scourge. Together we can fight drugs.
