After careful consideration of the letter, “Stop fussing about crime”, which appeared in the December 4 edition of EXPRESS, it becomes important to give Kempton Express readers some insight on how the DA would manage current criminal activities holding South Africans hostage.
Crime cannot and should not be glamorised but rather should be treated with the resistance it requires.
Therefore, in order to resist and prevent crime, the DA would ensure the South African Police Services have well trained, paid, resourced and effective police men and women to care for South Africans who are suffering under the cruel acts of crime.
Crime investigations would be improved to ensure suitable convictions. The justice system would also be required to ensure convictions and punishments that fit the crime.
Crime prevention would be given priority by ensuring sector policing is effective and has a direct link with the communities it serves. Private security companies would be encouraged to have a close working relationship with sector police.
Preventing crime would be a strong priority and focus of the DA, where crime reaction is implemented effectively, therefore ensuring each and every criminal act is given the resources for a successful conviction. To achieve successful convictions the case loads of detectives would be reduced, resources improved, including support services like the various laboratories that are needed to provide detectives with the relevant criminal information to bring criminals to book.
