Motorbike noise is really becoming an issue in Aston Manor. It seems like every second person got a noisy motorbike for Christmas.
We, as a community, cannot do much about it and hopes the metro police or police would step in and take action against the motorbike riders with their noisy bikes driving extremely fast down Duffton Road and Concourse Crescent in Aston Manor.
In the early mornings you can hear the bikes coming down Concourse Crescent, skipping three stop streets, and definitely racing over the speed limit of 60km/h, or coming down Dann Road, turning into Duffton Road, skipping the stop street at Concourse Crescent and chasing down in Concourse Crescent.
Sirs, I don’t know who you are, but I promise you, you are avoiding Dann Road and Monument Road to avoid road blocks, but the community of Aston Manor is now getting fed up of the noise. If the metro police or police are not going to do something to avoid you entering Aston Manor, the community of Aston Manor will take the law in our own hands and do something about it.
The whole area gets woken at 2am. The next morning the next lot of motorbikes are on their way to their breakfast runs. No sleep or rest for you, because there are just too many of them.
Some of our neighbours’ dogs howl because of the peak revs on the bikes. It must be terrible for those dogs’ ears. This happens on a daily basis at 9pm, 2am and 6.30am, and weekends are even worse.
Aston Manor is an up class area but it seems if it is becoming a downgraded area, because of all the motorbikes. I fully understand you have all the right to make use of the road, but not with the noise you are making. You are selfish and do not take other people into consideration, or the poor animals.
Isn’t it enough that we have aeroplanes going over our heads every second of the day, which we can do nothing about? We must live with that but we do not have to live with your motorbike noise. You and your motorbikes chasing down our streets will not be tolerated any longer.
Ekurhuleni will be contacted firstly to put up speed humps, and then the metro police and police to put up road blocks.
I am certain most of those motorbikes are not roadworthy, because I cannot see that anyone will let a motorbike go through roadworthy with that noisy exhaust pipes and peak revs. I wonder how many of you are riding those bikes without licences or under the influence of alcohol.
