Residents spend over 24 hours with sewage in their yard

The resident had sewage in her yard the whole of Friday and the drains were only fixed the next day

IRATE resident writes:

On Friday, February 16 at about 10am, we woke to find our drains were blocked. Our yard had sewage everywhere and the stench was horrendous.

We made nine calls to the municipality without much success. How is it possible to call at 10am and then only have the phone call logged at 3pm?

One would assume that surely overflowing sewage drains are a health hazard but unfortunately the metro doesn’t seem to think so.

Our ward councillor, Jaco Terblanche, was the only one who was willing to help. The problem was only resolved the next day at 6.30pm.

There is a serious problem in that department as this happens every time there is a blockage. But all complaints seem to fall on deaf ears.

The maintenance crew they sent to fix the problem was friendly and polite, so the problem must obviously lie within the department.

Blocked drains, potholes and bad service just seem to be the order of the day with the municipality.
