Whilst my wife and I were out for about 30-40 minutes on Tuesday morning on February 3, our house was forcibly and viciously broken into at about 10.20am.

Various valuables, including a desk-top computer and many other personal items, were stolen.

Fortunately, due to the quick-thinking of a passing resident in our street, who saw the getaway vehicle in our driveway (a charcoal BMW 3-series, BG 80 FL GP), the relevant authorities, security companies and police were alerted and responded almost immediately.

Unfortunately these criminals, who had already carried out burglaries at four other houses in our area, managed to get away, although their vehicle has subsequently been seen again several times in Birch Acres.

We have lived here for over 38 years without any serious incidents at our home, bar the theft of some hosepipes and plastic garden chairs, but obviously our area has now been targeted by these criminals, who are still at large.

We would like to thank Norkem Park police, the other response/police/forensic teams, plus Alfa and Chubb security officers, and our neighbours, for their care and concern during this episode.

Remember that registration number and be constantly observant!
