Elderly thank licensing department

The whole process took no more than 30 minutes

DAVE VAN DALEN writes:

I would like to thank the staff at Kempton Park Licensing Department for their professionalism, understanding and kindness I recently experienced when I had to renew my driver’s licence.

My wife and I are elderly and prepared ourselves for a long wait, considering the long queues and not so friendly staff we recently had to endure to register for our SASSA and Smart ID cards.

We took magazines and even a little something to nibble on (as my wife is a diabetic) while we wait. When I saw the long queue and knowing I had other commitments I had to attend to, I asked the person in charge if I could complete all the necessary forms and leave them in the pile, returning the following day. He was happy to accommodate me.

The following day, he was at the “help desk” counter and immediately recognised me. As my file was now on the top, he said I could skip the queue and go straight for my eye test. The whole process took no more than 30 minutes.

I am sorry, I never got the gentlemen’s names but even the other staff I had to deal with were very friendly and helpful, especially to us old folks who don’t move so fast or don’t always understand the process.

I would like their management to give recognition to all the staff. Their efforts are much appreciated.
