Soccer school opens on roof at Festival Mall
Different levels of coaching are offered, starting at grassroots level for young and beginner players
IN a bid to uplift soccer training and skills in the country, SuperSport United has opened a soccer school in Kempton Park.
The school, aimed at training boys aged 4-15, train at the five-a-side soccer field on the rooftop parking area at Festival Mall on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
Classes are also conducted on Saturday mornings from 10.30am to 11.30am.
“Our main aim is to produce professional football players and to send them through to our academy sides at SuperSport United,” said Ryan MacFarlane of the school. “With these schools we enter a new era of proudly South African soccer schools.”
The coaching is innovative and designed to challenge but also reward players in every aspect of the game. Attention is given to teaching the fundamental techniques of the game and showing young players how to master their skills.
Training is tailor-made for these children in a fun, safe and friendly environment.
Different levels of coaching are offered, starting at grassroots level for young and beginner players. Grassroots programmes are a great introduction to the more advanced programmes and also introduce players to the 10 core moves and fundamentals of football.
Training at junior level is aimed at players between eight and 11 years, working on the improvement of their technical skills and developing their game play through small-sided games.
Senior training focuses on players striving to improve their technical ability and game play to move them up to professional academy level.
Included in the registration fee are a SuperSport United Soccer School kit and a skills badge challenge book and stickers (for grading). A monthly fee is charged, depending on how many days a week the boys attend.
The fees, among others, cover the costs of coaches and the training venue. The school also sponsors one development player for every four paying kids it has. These are talented players whose parents cannot afford coaching. Kempton already hase a few development players.
Parents are welcome to contact MacFarlane on 083-227-6852 or kemptonpark@ssuss.co.za to book a free training session for their child.
