Help raise funds for blind bowlers by joining Allen Park bowlers

There is not much difference between a normal sighted bowler and a blind bowler, the club says.

Allen Park Bowling Club, situated at Allen Park retirement village, will host a bi-annual fund-raiser for Blind Lawn Bowlers on March 25 at 1.30pm.

According to a statement by the club, the only difference between blind bowlers and normal sighted bowlers is that bowlers who are visually impaired use a string and director who advises them in which direction they must bowl.

These inspiring bowlers represented South Africa at last year’s International Blind Bowls World Championship in Cape Town. Here, they participated against Australia, Hong Kong, Scotland and Wales, to name a few. They walked away with four gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medal.

The money raised at this event will be used by Blind Lawn Bowlers for much-needed uniforms and to cover expenses to participate in competitions.
