New 100km road cycle race for Ekurhuleni in May

The 100 is also an official point-scoring event in the 2018 Road Cycling Series

The first 100 Cycle Challenge, a new annual road race on the cycling calendar, will take place in the City of Ekurhuleni on May 6.

It is open to both professional and amateur cyclists and anyone over the age of 15 who loves cycling.

The 100 Cycle Challenge is the only road race in South Africa exclusively dedicated to the development of cycling. R50 from each entry will go towards Race The Future, a Cycling South Africa initiative aimed at getting young kids and teenagers active, engaged, enthused, off the street and onto bicycle seats.

The 100 is also an official point-scoring event in the 2018 Road Cycling Series and will take place annually on the first Sunday in May. The race starts and ends at Germiston Lake and is set to become the must-do race in autumn as it’s a fast, flat community route.

Follow the race conversation on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram; tag @100cycle and use #SweatTheSunday.

The race is powered by Jacaranda FM, hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni and partnered by Cycling South Africa, Cycle Lab and Cyclesure.

The 100 Cycle Challenge, together with Cycle Lab, is giving away a KTM Revelator 3300 Carbon Road bike worth R30 000 to one lucky cyclist who enters the race by March 31.

Entry is online at www.100cyclechallenge.co.za and costs R400 plus R35 for a day licence.
