Ivory Park gets clued up on Wiser-Ball

Simplex Solutions will be hosting its last Wiser-Ball practice tournament at Ivory Park Stadium in April.

In September 2017, Simplex Solutions introduced Wiser-Ball to Ivory Park and Tembisa.

Wiser-Ball is an international sport where strategy and exercise are combined, and motion and stillness vie with each other.

Simplex Solutions will be hosting its last Wiser-Ball practice tournament at Ivory Park Stadium in April.

This will also include team recruitment and registration for people wishing to learn how to play Wiser-Ball.

The first Wiser-Ball league will start in Ivory Park on April 21, which will be played till October 21.

“We invite anyone who wants to learn or play Wiser-Ball to come to Ivory Park Stadium on the 21 April 2018, at 10 am.”

Simplex Solutions also invites potential sponsors to assist in growing and developing Wiser-Ball for our communities.

“Playing Wiser-Ball not only builds physical strength but also develops wisdom and brainpower,” said one of the organisers, Thapelo Semenay.

Wiser-Ball, an international sport and for everyone, is a game played by seven members per team, making up a total of 14 people per game.

“Thanks to Thomas Wong, the South African Wiser-Ball chairman, Simplex Solutions; Ivory Park Ward 78 local councillor Steven Makama and the Ivory Park sport committee, the first Wiser-Ball tournament was held in the Ivory Park Stadium, where eight teams competed.

“Within the eight teams was the Tswelelene Development Break A Sweat team, a team that consists of gogos (the elderly),” added Semenay.

Sarah March (65) said she loves Wiser-Ball because after playing it she never feels tired and most of all she loves showing the young ones that being old doesn’t mean that you cannot play any sport.

Player Dineo also said that she enjoys Wiser-Ball because it the only sport where she can play with boys freely without any fear of being hurt.

The current Wiser-Ball winners are Ithabeleng Girls Home, a team consisting of girls.

With Wiser-Ball, Simplex Solutions aims to encourage as many people to take part in sport.

“We hope to enable more and more people to experience the incomparable benefits and joys of Wiser-Ball, it can be played anywhere as long as you have the Wiser-Ball equipment.”

Simplex Solutions has made it its role to recruit and teach as many people as it can.

Wong said, “Wiser ball prepares young people to be able to face different challenges.”

He said that they need to understand that we sometimes need help from others when facing difficulties. He said that when playing Wiser-Ball if your ball gets locked by the other team only your teammates can rescue you and this symbolises the spirit of ubuntu.
