Three swimmers will be off to Italy soon

Most swimmers (as in other sports) are required to pay for their own way.

Three Aquatic Academy swimmers have qualified for the Italian Tours.

Kyles Mckenzie, Kyle Letley and Clayton Malaza will soon be travelling to Italy.

The Kyles will leave mid-June to compete in the Circuito Nuoto Italia. The swimmers had to qualify for the privilege to participate in these prestigious events and the training camps offered.

These competitions are the Trofeo Citta’ Di Rossini, Pesaro from June 15-17 and the Treviso Swim Cup from June 22-23.

Clayton has been selected to travel in July to take part in the Tri-Colour Games in Socini, Italy.

Training to one day compete on the international scene is very expensive. Most swimmers (as in other sports) are required to pay for their own way.

The two Kyles, along with their training partner Clayton, will host several events in the next few weeks to raise the necessary funds to facilitate their inclusion to compete in these travelling teams.

SA junior nationals

Kings Park pool once again hosted this national gala. Great potential for the future of swimming in South Africa was evident.

Kyle Mckenzie and Kyle Letley both swam new personal best times. Kyle Mckenzie was ecstatic to lower the Eastern Gauteng 200m individual medley record time set in 2004, to 2:12:36.

Kyle Letley qualified for his first SA youth competition in the 200m individual medley with a personal best time of 2:18:88.
