Tembisa golfers elect their new executive committee

September 29 finally arrived as it marked the end of the previous Tembisa Golf Club’s executive term and the beginning of the next executive committee term, lasting until September 2020.

A tent was erected as early as 10am on Saturday and golfers began trickling into the tent at around 11.30am, ready to participate in yet another milestone moment in the history of the club.

All the participants were advised to select the relevant people who will carry the tough responsibility of taking the sport of golf in Tembisa to the next level.

According to the club’s general secretary, Benjamin Monyanyedi, normally on a Saturday like that from as early as 9am there will be golfers doing their thing on the Ebuhleni fairways but this time around it was about who they would want to see taking the club forward.

As with all other AGMs of the club, some other gentleman golfers were already busy preparing braai and food supplies for afterwards.

The day’s agenda was lengthy as reports of last two years had to be presented by the different departments, including development, Sunday golf and outside golf, Ebuhleni, and the executive committee’s reports.

The final agenda item was then the ultimate reason for being there, the election of the executive committee.

Mohera Boshomane retained his position of chairperson and Francis Tsotetsi came in as his deputy. Benjamin Monyanyedi was elected yet again unopposed as secretary, with Sipho Sidu being elected as deputy secretary, also unopposed.

Themba Mazibuko came in once again as captain with Meshack Maluka declining captaincy but accepting vice-captaincy.

Pat Sibiya once again became treasurer of the club.

Sam Serongoane, besides being at development, was added to the executive committee together with Tana Mowelo, Kakapa Sibandze and Bongani.

As this AGM was about the executive committee that governs all departments at a strategic level, James Mdidimba, Willie Lesufi, Harry Mthembu, Frans Molepo, as well as Sam Serongoane, who holds dual office, remain in their respective departmental positions. They have to, as such, carry on with their respective functions in the best interest of the club and its members.
