Netball club hosts junior tournament in Edleen

Kempton Park Netball Club hosted the Fantjuzz Junior Netball Tournament at Edleen Primary School recently.

Netballers were kept busy at the recent Fantjuzz Junior Netball Tournament at Edleen Primary School.

Kempton Park Netball Club (KPNC) hosted the tournament that saw eight teams go head-to-head.

The u-13 and u-14 teams enjoyed the tournament, which also served as a week-long camp.

“The aim of the tournament was to keep the children from the streets and teach them more about the beautiful game of netball,” said Mafathi Setsiba, director of the tournament and head coach for the KPNC.

Netballers battled it out on the courts which caused for some great sports action throughout the tournament.

“The tournament was not only aimed at the players competing, but also at imparting skills and ensuring they know about and practice good sportsmanship.”

Hartties team from Benoni claimed first place after a heated and adrenalin-filled deciding game against Klipfontein Netball Club. Super Strikers from Katlehong placed third, followed by Young Starts from Soweto.

“This was a great tournament and we saw an amazing display of talent on the courts,” said Kgomotso Masongoa, assistant coach for KPNC.

“Thank you to our sponsors for their continued support, and thank you to all the players, coaches and everyone who made this a success.

“This year’s event was a great success and we hope to make it an annual event.”

Ghetto from Katlehong, Ebony Girls, Siyanqoba from Vosloorus and Golden Stars from Cosmo City were the other teams that took part in the tournament.
