Gwezi’s goal leads All Nations to victory
All Nations enjoy a weekend league win over Black Pirates from a penalty scored by Gwezi.
All Nations celebrated a 1-0 victory over Black Pirates in the weekend clash at Square Two sports ground on April 7 in a Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) league match.
Coming from disappointing results, All Nations were looking to grab a win and bag three points to secure their spot in the top eight.
Black Pirates looked tough from the start. Their passing combinations terrified All Nations’s defense, but they failed to break through. But at the half-hour mark, All Nations gained the upper hand and just before the half-time whistle, Kaugelo Gwezi scored the opening goal off a penalty.
Both teams held back their substitutions until the second half. Black Pirates pushed forward a couple of times, fighting for an equaliser, but had no luck.
All Nations made a double substitution towards the 70-minute mark. Gule Mamola and Trevor Mangala were replaced by Sipho Vilankulu and Seun Matlou, respectively.
Black Pirates substituted Tshepo Ramodike and Gabriel Thobela with Msomi Sbusiso and Sandile Machele, respectively.

The two teams locked horns in the middle of the field. Pirates broke through in the 81st minute but their efforts were defeated by the keeper. At the final whistle, the game belonged to All Nations, with a 1-0 win over Black Pirates.
Black Pirates’ coach Steven Matlala said they had more chances than the opposition, but they could not put the balls behind the keeper.
“They found one chance off a penalty and they used it right. Before half time, we would have scored three goals.”
All Nations’ captain Ambrose Kekana said the game was difficult as the opponents were very rough and that is why they were awarded a penalty.
“We had to be defensively solid because Black Pirates is an attacking team and we had to try and secure our one goal while trying to score more,” explained Kekana.
All Nations’ coach Jack Mohlala said it was a good match thanks to Gwezi putting them in the lead.
“We were solid from the back and our strikers could not get support from the midfielders, which resulted into our substitutions,” said Mohlala.
